Your pipes are clogged. Same thing happened to us last year. Instead of calling someone my fiance tried to snake the pipes himself and ended up replacing some piping. It took a couple of days and was a pain in the butt but it works fine now.

Chances are the drain on the washer is ties in to the main AFTER the trap for your sink, by the way you described it, sounds like your sink trap is clogged up, drano won't work. Take the trap apart, and clean it out. If the washer machine doesn't have a problem draining, this should be the problem...

You need to run a "snake " down the drain. Go to a tool rental yard, it is not expensive there are ones with blades on the enc and a motor like the "roto rooter" guy has or just a long coil of metal hose to crank through, either way it will or should clear the clog. Also try Alka Seltzer, it works sometimes! Just type "use snake in drain pipe" in Search and all kinds of sites on plumbing tips will come up, Good Luck!

I would start by checking the trap under the sink, put a pan or something under the trap to catch all the water and take the trap loose, there may also be a second trap for the washer also,if the first trap don't fix the problem check for a second one and follow the same steps.if that don't work you may have to get a drain auger and run down the pipe while you have the traps off....

Check the pitch on the drain pipes! For every 12 in. of run, there should be 1/4 in. of drop. If not, it's a weekend project t repair yourself.

more then likely your pipe is clogged where the pipe bends under the floor. you should get a plumber to clean out your pipes to the sewer line, and then put a lint trap over the washing machine drain hose so lint doesn't get down into the pipes and clog them. that is more then likely what has happened to your pipes to clog them. also don't pour grease down the drains as over time this will cause slow and clogged pipes too.

Seperate drain through a U-bend to your drain, as others have said clean your pipes first.

If you can take the trap apart and see if you can clean it out yourself. If it's plactic pipe you should be able to unsrew the parts or if chrome use a plumbers wrench.
