so in order to round it to the tenth, you look at the tenths
so....since the tenth is 9, which fulfills the rule that if it is 5 or above u round it up
and since the next digit after 9 is 10, but its 2 space, so you overfill it to the next space, and the answer eventually becomes 1.0

I guess the 5 after the nine would drive the nine to a 1.0 If the 5 rounds down the answer would be .9

if the hundredth position is 5 or higher, then the nearest tenth (9 in ths case) gets rounded up one., so the answer is 1.0

0.9 would be to the nearest tenth.
The rule is if the number after the nine is 4 or less, then .9 and if the number after the nine is 6 or greater, round up. But if the number after the nine is 5, then look at the number after it is 6 or greater, then round up, otherwise down. Confused?

the tenth is the first spot to the right of the "."
so .952xxxxxxxx would change it to 1.0 (you round up)

1.0
Usually any number five or greater allows you to increase the number to the left (in this case nine) by one. The other numbers are not useful in this exercise.
