Do the the thick strings go above the thin ones on a 12 string guitar?

as you hold your guitar to play and look down, it should be thick, thin, thick thin etc. the lowest register (octave, tone ,etc) should be closest to your eye and going progressively higher in pairs.

Thin ones 1st.

You should just be able to see on the guitar's nut.

Actually it should be-----2 thick, 2 alittle thinner, 2 even thinner, etc.
