In 1995 Andrea Silenzi has signed for the Nottingham Forest.
He has been the first italian footballer in premier league.
Zola, Di Matteo and Ravanelli signed 1 year later, in 1996 but other 3 Italian footballers had signed before them in 1995, but after of Silenzi (they were Petrachi, Matrecano and Mannini).-

Neither Di canio or Zola, Di Canio only started playing in 1997 for Sheff Wed, Zola was a late 96 signing
Roberto di Matteo was signed in 96 and played in August 96, can't think of any other Italians before him

The first player i remember since i started watching EPL was Zola. Was actually a favored player of mine, specially with his Free-Kicks. But if theres one before that, i wouldnt be surprised. I would be surprised if there wasnt one.
