Is it a Dell?
If so please try one thing for me.

Change the clock setting on your system prior to December the 1st / January the 1st / February 1st ect...
The earlier the better. You can always change it back.

Now try to run a dvd as normal. I suggest you only try this if you have a Dell as they did this to my pc as well. After a set period the software they had installed ended as they had given me a trial period instead of the real product.

If this is the case and it works revert back to the correct date and email me as I have the codec to correct this.

How ever if you do not have a Dell try a small system restore to return any recent software you may have deleted. This may help.
Or you may need to download a codec - I see a good link has already been provided.

Something else to try is to update your Media Player.

This is a common error that is completly Window fault. Download a more reliable DVD player. Try video player it never has any problems.

You need to install a DVD codec.. You've probably deleted it or it simply stoped working after updating your media player...

You have to figure out if your just missing a codec, or is it a
hardware problem.
Download something like powerdvd, or windvd, to see.
