Simplify...4(x - 3) - 2x
First: eliminate parenthesis --- distribute the outer term with the terms in parenthesis...
4(x) + 4(- 3) - 2x
Sec: combine the terms...
4x + (-12) - 2x
4x - 12 - 2x
Third: combine "like" terms...
4x - 2x - 12
= 2x - 12
P.S. There is no solution for "x" because the expression is not an equation set to a value. The expression has to be simplified.

are you sure thats 10th grade math....
but anyways this is how you do it
4(x-3)-2x
First, distribute the 4 into (x-3)
= 4x-12
Second finish the equation by subtracting 2x because it is a like term
= 4x-12-2x
= 2x-12
Thirdly - you add the 12 over in order to isolate the x variable..so...
2x=12
then you divide both sides by 2 in order to undo the 2x
so....
x=6
and there is your answer =D

well lets see 4(x-3)-2x = ?
so it would be 4x-12-2x = ?
then it would be 2x-12 = ?
then it would be 2x = 12
so, x = 6. Hope it helps. :]
