when you login to the net by using you username and password
the company you logged in the will give you an IP address
and that will stuck with you until you log off
if anyone said that you sended a threat message to him, they will look to the IP address and the time, if you was the person how used that IP at this time ... you in big problem.
so
that same here ... the other guy using your net, that mean your IP.
because it is your username.
you have to make a Wireless Protected Access (password)
good luck

I would suggest truning on access keys on the wireless for the SIMPLE reason that any access that comes from your link will potentially land an investigator at your doorstep asking about why and what. Will it happen? Not likely. They will never be able to prove abnything, But why bother with it? The hassle or email hassles. Simply turn on some form of WPA or similiar key, or a MAC-level ID. Takes 2 minutes and guarantees ONLY you use the pipe. As was noted here, it will HELP with overall performance if the intruder is streaming or downloading over your pipe. Just keep them off. Solve the whole problem in 2 minutes.

There is only really two ways of doing this, one is to change your Wi-Fi password, it's not difficult and i'm sure if it bothers you so much that he is using your internet you would do so. The other is to block his MAC address, but to do this you would actually have to know how and i'm can't be bothered going into a lesson of how to do so, therefore, just change your password and all is good. :)

I doubt it. We've been using limewire/Kazaa for like 4 years and have we ever been arrested??? NOOOOOO...besides, the computer that downloads it will be found because they can trace its phyical address. They will be able to tell that the people were using your internet!
But regardless, you really really need to secure your wireless router for security purposes. If someone has the right equipment, they can see what you are doing because theres no security coming from the router and to you're computer. its like sending you're information right into the air for someone to just grab.

If you're in America the question is could they prove you're guilty. The burden of proof is on the prosecution. It would be a lot of trouble to obtain a warrant to seize your computer without probable cause. It's a good thing our police force is here to protect us from those lawless lowlifes such a yourself. I fell so safe.

Yes and No. It depends on how well Educated and Skilled the RIAA's Techi is trained. I would just suggest that you ditch the wi-fi, and if you have anything that is remote like wireless web cams or anything like that they can easily be cracked into.

you are fine. there's no way they can tell you are downloading the items. they would trace it to the comp that ACTUALLY DOWN LOADED IT.
