I am also very pale and in school the kids made fun of me too. I could not tan either. Now I am 48 yrs. old and I went to my 20 high school reunion last year. The girls who always were tan in school looked 60 years old and I looked 35 years old instead of my real age. The sun will age you badly and when time goes by you will be happy you couldn't tan. Don't worry about them they just do not know what the future holds for them.

You should be happy you have beautiful, pale skin! But perhaps a bit of cosmetic enhancement would perk up your coloring a bit. There's a product by Avon called Visual Perfection, it is a tint releasing moisturizer with sunscreen it it, SPF 20, and it is meant for the face. It is not a fake tan but deepens your own coloring until you wash it off. It's awesome, I use it, especially in winter when I tend to look too pale too. And wear some brighter lip glosses and you'll un-pale yourself! For the body, there are great tinted SPF moisturizers as well. Neutrogena and L'Oreal have some good ones for the hands and body. Just get the very lightest as they range from light to dark, and you'll still look your natural beautiful self with just a bit more pep! If you have such pale skin, you should be wearing sunscreens anyway, just pick the ones that are tinted! Have fun and forget about other flapping gums. Only bored and boring people have to stick their noses into the affairs of others. They have no life! Don't worry about them! Move on, head held high!!!

I am exactly the same way! I have always been that way! You can learn to be proud of what god gave you.. Even if it's pale skin! It stays young looking longer!

I can't get a tan at all! I am VERY pale all year long. Just get a light bronzer makeup to lightly brush across your face. Get mystic tans. They look a little fake but not bad. It's worth it to me, especially in the summer time when everyone notices skin color.

There is nothing else you can do.. Just embrace what you have. No one ever said you HAVE to be tan. We are all different. I think my skin color is beautiful, and it took me a while to accept that myself.

Skin color is a function of melanin. Freckles are spots of melanin.

If you do not have it, you are not going to tan. Case in point: me. I have alabaster skin and I literally cannot tan. Growing up in California in the '70's, of course, tan was "in". I tried for a little bit before I decided that I did not care about this. Being "in" was not important.

Melanin protects from sunburn. Welcome to the sunburn club!

Fake tans look like crap. I would suggest coming to terms with your natural skin color.

Oh, I would suggest not trying to get a tan because when one is very pale, the usual result is skin cancer later in life.

Wait a few years. When school is over, never look back. Kids can be as*holes....

There is nothing wrong with your skin color. I love pale skin - it looks great against my brown skin ;)

Honey there is no reason to be ashamed of your skin color. Trying to change it is like someone that is darker trying to lighten their skin.

If the other kids pick on you tell them to go to hell and that you won't change yourself to satisfy their pathetic need to look like every jennifer and brad.

fight the norm and embrace your individuality

Dont worry about what other people think of you, be happy with your own skin...dont let what other people say about you , make you think something is wrong with you! Be proud of who you are(inside) no matter what you look like!

What do you mean you don't burn? That's impossible, everyone burns. The next time it is 100 degrees out, with a direct sun angle, please stand out in the sun ALL DAY, and tell me you ain't burnt by the time the sun sets. Give me a break.
