I am bipolar, but under treatment and medication. I would prefer not to have children on my own because I know that bipolar is genetic. I really believe that I would be a good mom, but would I even be given the chance since I am bipolar even though it is treated?

Yes, the key will be to prove that you are stable. They will want to have your Doctor confirm that you are stable and responsible. Do you have a partner?? Certainly would help to have a stable partner.

Very wise choice. My daughter is bi-polar. At 11 I am hoping I am a LONG way from her having a child. Frankly I hope she never has one. She was already displaying BP traits at 2 years of age, when she moved in with us.

That is a very wise and very difficult choice to make. I applaud you. If you would like to discuss this I am a family planning coach. Please check out my site below and at fertilitycoach.ca

Well, it definitely wouldn't be a factor that would help you but maybe you have other things that could help, like money or a steady job, supportive family etc.

If you are not concerned about the race of a baby or if you wanted to adopt a child with special needs (e.g physically handicapped) than your chances would increase because unfortunately they are not as wanted by the so called "more highly qualified" adopting parents.

I am not sure. I would check with the adoption agencies and find out their policies.

I sure hope so because there are so many kids out there who need good homes with loving parents. Good luck!

in my opinion, i have self belief it truly is so that they get some highway credit status or popularity for adopting somewhat one from Africa on condition that Africa is knows for his or her poorness (no offense africa). yet a number of them ought to have nicely hearts, you not in any respect understand what they fairly have self belief.
