Don't give it all in yet!
Get recognized in public first. Join a school or church choir- or both. Let your voice develop and keep singing. Definitely learn how to read and write music, and playing an instrument is a big help.
If you do decide you want to sing for a living, have a really good backup plan. Most music stars don't get discovered until they're out of college.

Try out for those TV shows like american idol and such. Or, start singing locally by trying out for things like singing the national anthem at baseball games. Look on the internet for things happening in your area.

get a nice picture of yourself
get a demo (go to a local studio)
or
Get a mic for a computer and burn your voice to a blank cd
send it to multple music companies, and just be confident
and do talent shows
eventually everywhere you go, you will be the singing sensation and discovered in no time.
