Do you mean: m/3 - 7 > 11 Or, m/(3-7) > 11? I'll solve both.

1. m/3 - 7 > 11

First: eliminate the fraction - multiply the denominator with each term...

(3)(m/3) - (3)(7) > (3)(11)

Sec: cross cancel "like" terms & combine the rest...

m - 21 > 33

Third: isolate "m" on one side - add 21 with both sides...

m - 21 + 21 > 33 + 21
m > 54

2. m/(3-7) > 11

First: combine "like" terms in the denominator...

m/(-4) > 11
- m/4 > 11

Sec: eliminate the fraction - multiply the denominator with both sides...

(4)(- m/4) > (4)(11)

*Cross cancel "like" terms & combine the rest...

- m > 44

Third: rule - the variable "m" can't be negative > change the signs...

m > - 44

treat the > as an =:

m/3 - 7 > 11
m/3 - 7 + 7 > 11 + 7
m/3 > 18
m/3 * 3 > 18 * 3
m > 54

The thing to keep in mind with inequalities is that if you multiply or divide by a negative number, remember to switch the inequality (from > to < for example)

Hope this helps! :)

m/3-7>11

Multiply both sides by 3 to get rid of the fractions:
m-21>33

Add 21 from both sides:
m>54

Check:
54/3-7=11
18-7=11
11=11
