The function V described by V(r)=4pir^2 gives the surface area of a sphere with radius r.

Find the surface area when the radius is 3 in.

4 * pi * r * r

r = 3

4 * pi * 3 * 3

36pi = 113.1 in^2

just put 3 in into the formula.
V=4*pi*3^2 in^2

V = 4*pi*(3)^2
V = 4*pi*9
V= 36pi
V = 113.04in^2
