The overnite train from Paris to Rome leaves from the Gare de Bercy (which is next to the Gare de Lyon)

Gare du Nord will lead to the North!!!
Try the Gare de Lyon, all the trains going toward the mediterranean area leave from there.
the french railways website is www.sncf.fr (there is an English vrsion, if I remember correctly)

Gare de Lyon is where you find all the trains to/from Italy in Paris.
