He in basic terms ran against Bush interior the primaries in 2000. no longer the comparable ingredient as working head to head against a guy from the different social gathering. In 2004 John Kerry made a vast deal approximately being a warfare hero and people somewhat bought that line. So McCain being a bigger hero used it this time. besides the undeniable fact that it did no longer seem to make any distinction. Obama gained, a guy who no longer in basic terms did no longer serve, he on no account had to stand the draft and it appears that evidently he on no account even fired a gun. i think of he will do a large Neville Chamberlain impersonation.

You have to be kidding. Kerry did everything he could to avoide combat including putting himself in for decorations he didn't deserve. I spen 14 months IC in the South along Hwy 13 on a firebase doing ambush and S & D's so I get to vent a bit too. I only received 2 PHs but I paid for them. Kerry's a phoney and a traitor. President Bush volunteered for Texas Air National Guard, that's good enough for me.

I'm a Vietnam Vet too, two tours, and I bad mouth Kerry. I think he disrespects all of us with his false claims. Yeah Bush could have gone if he wanted to, we were talking anyone that breathes, but he didn't go. I know lots of people my age that didn't go, so what!

Our President was in the National guard, a fighter pilot, if he had received orders to go i am sure he would have went, i doubt he would have taken a film crew like Kerry did and i doubt he would have scratched himself so he could get purple hearts as Kerry did an BTW Kerry also faked his wounds so he could get an early out. If you believe he is a hero after all his subversive activity then you are dishonoring the friends you claim to have lost!

I despise Bush! That said, a coward would have opted not to fight in WW II, a reasonable person would have opted out of Vietnam. I have no desire to die for no real purpose either.

Bush could have gone to Vietnam.
But he was too busy hiding in Alabama.

could he have gone? he was in an exclusive national guard unit. maybe he couldn't have gotten there without his daddy's help, but it certainly shows that he was in physical condition to be sent to vietnam. That's why he joined the guard, so he wouldn't be forced to go to vietnam. Not only would they have been happy to accept him, if he wasn't powerful, they would have dragged him kicking and screaming.
Joshua I agree with you, but Bush and his family publicly supported Vietnam.

He would have had to be retrained to fly a completely different aircraft. My guess is that they figured that by the time he was trained and certified in a new aircraft he would not have enough mobilization time left to make it worthwhile.
