I've read if it's cold outside (which it is) that this happens but it's been through many a winters and this has never happened, please help, I don't want to have it towed!! Says nothing about it in the stupid manual...

You're all right about the small hole to unlock the shifter but that's stuck under some decorative metal ring so I need to first find a way to remove that before I can get to the hole...now I gotta find a screwdriver somewhere!

you might have to rock the car back and forth a little bit to unlock the transmission. sometimes when you park the car moves a little bit and it "catches". That is when the transmission is locked. that happens when you park on a hill and not use the parking brake. good luck

you may have to override the safty lock on your shift leaver look on the shift console for a slot hole or a small round hole probably at the top right corner insert your key and push down and bring your shift in the neuteral position remove the key and start your car. if it is a round hole you have to push the lock override with something round and move shift to the n and start. the relay that unlocks this is probably defected. good luck

There is a release on the shifter console. It should be located near the front of the console and look like a key slot!Put your key in the hole, and shift the car into neutral!

Then start the car in neutral, and drive it!

most auto cars have a shift release on the panel by the auto shifter. You have to put your key in a small key shaped hole and push it down and it'll allow you to shift your car out of park into neutral.
give it a try.

Do you need to depress the break to put it in gear? Maybe something is wrong there and it doesn't realize you are doing that. Try pushing the break harder if that is how your car works.

Stay in the vehicle and call a mechanic - if you catch the parking ticket guy you can explain your situation - if you run out of coins to put in the meter!
