Generally conservatives love peace because they have seen war.
Conservatives are also realistic enough to know that diplomacy only works on people who believe in diplomacy themselves.

Don't be a dunce. No one *likes* war - but sometimes, it's necessary.
Look at what is happening in Europe. They've tried to appease Muslims, and what's happened? Spain got bombed right out of Iraq. France had *how* many riots last year? England had their awful bombing, and have foiled several more plots.
How do you reason with people who think it's perfectly acceptable to burn women alive? Throw acid on them? Stone them, for God's sake. These practices are *all* acceptable under Islamic Sharia Law. A little town in Canada had the nerve to pass laws prohibiting such activities (damn those logical, civilized Canadians!) and have had to deal with the Muslim Counsel of Montreal coming unglued at the seams. The Muslim Counsel of Montreal claims these are anti-immigrant, intolerant laws. Um - excuse me?
Now, I'm not a Canadian, but in this case, I feel pretty safe speaking for the sane majority. If you want to live someplace where you can light your wife on fire, throw acid on your daughter, or stone your sister-in-law, fine - just stay in whatever medieval rat-hole you came from. But if you CHOOSE to move to a Western, CIVILIZED country, respect their laws. Period.
Sometimes, war is a necessary evil.

As a conservative, and someone who has seen war firsthand, I much prefer peace. War is always a messy, devastating affair, and if there is any way to solve a problem peacefully, it should be solved peacefully.
That said...
I don’t want peace right now. I want war. If the events of the last 30 years don't lead you to this conclusion, then I don’t know what will. I also don’t know who to be more afraid of: the terrorists who seek to destroy us, or the weak-willed pseudo-intellectuals and neo-hippies at home that seek to validate the opinions of terrorists and terrorist nations. For decades, America has had a foreign policy of appeasement towards terrorists and the nations who harbor them. The result has been to welcome further aggression. For decades, our leaders have sought to negotiate with criminals with a gun in their mouth. This must stop with decisive military action. For decades we have known which countries have given shelter and support to terrorists. America has finally pronounced a judgment of death on them. Terrorists and supporting nations cannot murder Americans and get away with it any longer. Now, and for the foreseeable future, military action is the only answer. (Yes I know innocent people in targeted nations will die. I accept that. If their governments don't care enough about their well-being to end their support of terrorists, then I hold them responsible for every innocent life lost.) Every sovereign nation is entitled to self-defense. Why should we be any different?
I will not bend over and take their crap. Not in my backyard. Thus I do not agree at all with the appeasers who think we should respond with restraint and compromise. The time for restraint has long since passed. You cannot compromise with someone who has dedicated their life to your destruction. When a thief is in your house wanting to steal everything, you do not offer him half. You defend your property. How much more of America has to be destroyed before the politically insane realize that this is a time for war? Wake up to reality. America has been viciously attacked and it's citizens slaughtered for too long. I am angry, and I don’t ever want to forget this anger or relent in any way. America needs to stay angry, and in fact America needs MORE anger. Preaching love and peace is not a solution or sign of solidarity. Peace got us into this, and it won't get us out.
America has to send a clear message that we will no longer tolerate terrorism anywhere in the world. Right now America’s military is acting forcefully and properly to win this war. There is no middle ground on this subject. You either want to see the terrorists brought to justice, or you don't. America needs to immediately recognize the obligation it has to the citizens of the entire free world to eradicate the infection of terrorism, and it needs the will to act on it.

You have to remember that if you love peace at the expense of everything else, you can achieve it at the expense of your freedoms and liberties. However, you will be dominated by someone else that doesn't have the same philosophy.
Therefore, conservatives do love peace, they just value their freedoms enough to fight, when necessary, to maintain them.

Neo conservatives love war but I'd say most true conservatives don't love war and would rather have peace. Unfortunately the Neo Cons run most of Washington right now which is why we've got so many wars.

we don't love war...i don't really think that anybody does (well i hope not)...peace is much too hard to get. it will never happen. but there is most definately nothing wrong with peace except for the fact that it can't be achieved.

We don't like war, we just believe that sometimes wars must be fought to keep peace.
Peace is awesome, but sometimes we must fight wars to create peace.
