Can someone please explain distributive law in plain english or a more down to earth way.... Thanks..

let's use an example to explain:

a(b+c) = ab + ac

this is distribution... in other words:

a(b+c) = (a*b + a*c)

Using real numbers:

2(1 + 3) = (2*1 + 2*3) = (2 + 6) = 8
2(4) = 8

You distribute the number outside the parentheses to each term inside the parentheses.

no idea what u mean by distributive law... distributive property maybe? in math?
