When the Taliban ruled Afghanistan, there was even a rumour that beards were compulsory. Is there a religious reason for this?

Well Citizen Kane I don't know about the women but for men it is sunnah (which means it is good).
Similar reason why women are encouraged by the Quran to have longer hair (on their head, in case you were getting ideas). On the day of Judgement everyone will be naked and if you want to cover yourself up then the longer your hair is the better, just long not really long ( I have seen some right jokers with hair to the floor, it is disgusting to look at).
If you were talking of Muslim women's beards- Well (stroking my beard) its a tough one. As far as I know some women do have beards because their hair is darker and more testosterone and all that but seriously many Asian, South American and European women have something on their chin. How come you only noticed it on the Muslim woman then? In fact seeing as many of you think that we are all trapped and wearing ninja suits how did you see through one, Superman?
Hang on a minute was your question serious or like many people here it is your regular pastime to get on Yahoo and start on the Muslim population. Well go for it, I find it strange that you would just start on me and my religion when you don't evern know me but what the hey freedom of speech and all that.

the thing is that muslims are the believers in Allah the creator of the universe including humans now if our lord orders us any thing we are ought to obey that without caring for the logic had there been any logic behind creating us that is why our Creator hadnt listend to angels and brouhgt us into being faith on God Should be blind but yes i admit that some of the mean muslims with beards made other muslim to have blind faith in them rather and created such mess that peolple started insulting beard which really is so pious thing being a muslim who is peacefull and well wisher of every one since others pain despite of thier religion hurt us too.a normal person cant see somone suffering from pain one would rush to help other without caring of beard or not. in muslim's belief dear insulting others sacred things is a big sin and punishable. therfore i urge you not too say any thing too beard since beard in it self in not bad it is rather pious even chritians have beard yes man with beard doing awfull thing are bad. pls stop insulting others belief or you would get some insulting punishment for this. my dear even christ had beard.may Allah show you the right path. i tried my best not to offend you but if you feel bad im sorry. but let me tell you some thing that good begets good Prophet Mohammad urged muslim men to have beard (womens are exempted for God Sake Dont exagerate too).and one of your men the respectable christian had written a book about top 100 most popullar personalities just go through that book dear and you will see the very first name shows it greatness.

Muslims need many traditions obeyed to gain salvation. They add on many superficial traditions on existing superficial traditions to just be able to look holy. Inside them resides the spirit of Satan whom they worship as we all know Satan pretended to be Angel Gabriel started this whole man made religion od illogical deeds.
