That depends entirely where you live in the US. Your most affordable housing can be found in Texas, even in the big cities like Houston and Dallas. Las Vegas is affordable. If you move to California, the prices are sky high !! Likewise, so is New York City. You just need to do a llittle homework. First, decide where you want to live. Do you want to be near mountains or do you want to be near the beach ? Then, run a search on that city. The US is very, very diverse. The cost of living varies greatly from state to state and city to city.

It totally varies depending on what part of the country you live in. Cheaper in the midwest and also farther out from top cities. The farther into rural areas, probably the cheapest. What I pay for an apartment in a small town outside of Toledo, Ohio probably wouldn't buy me a fancy dinner in New York.

The more money u make , the more u pay for living (rent, etc.)
Light bills are outrageous .
Rent is too outrageous
U could find a run down shack in the country cheap.
But then u got to buy oil or wood to keep warm for winter.

It all depends. I live in Kentucky and rent for our 3 bedroom brick house is $300 monthly (I live in the middle of town, so it is more expensive....however, our downtown is only one street). In south/east Kentucky and West Virginia cost of living is at it's lowest.
Good luck!
