Okay, I loved watching this show and got to see the very end when I was young. At the final season, Thundera was recreated and many of the thunderians returned. Lion-O and the others were the first to arrive and prepare for their to return. At some point, the mutants were captured along with the Lunatacs and sent to a prision dimension. The final episode dealt with the final battle with Mumm-Ra and when he was defeated, he too was sent to the prison forever. Lion-O made a speech to his people and the end.
Thundercats (and Transformers) will always be my favorite cartoons of all time.

thundarr the barbarian goes on a rampage and kills them all, he then finally bones princess ariel and ookla uses lion-o's skull for a soup bowl.
