It sounds as if you're looking for ((y^4)^(1/2))^(1/6), but that doesn't seem to match any of the answers given.

If "square root" is a typo, you may be looking at (y^4)^(1/6). That DOES simplify to one of the answers you gave.

Your answer would be the sixth root of y^4 or y^(4/6) = y^(2/3)

therefore c is correct :)
