I'm an 8th grader and I am trying to get rid of styrofoam in my school district. I'm giving a presentation to someone, I think he's a member of the school board. Anyway, that's on Wednesday and I'm totally freaked out. I have most of my powerpoint and research done. I just need an ending...alternatives that the district could actually use. The district is sending this guy over to listen to my presentation, but they really don't plan on taking it any further. They say students come to them all the time saying "We need to do this, and get rid of this!" but never go into alternatives, or ways to change it. That's what I really need! I'm working with one of my old teachers, but I need your help too, because I can't find anything.

Well, I've found one thing, Eco-Foam. And I think my teacher found some other things, but I need more.

I REALLY need websites that have prices listed, and ways to contact them! (obviously it's going to be bought in bulk)

I've gotten bio degradable "pop corn" when I ordered stuff from the Vitamin Shoppe, which I believe is made from corn starch, and can even be eaten, or dissolved in water and flushed down the toilet.

(I just found it on their website and pasted it below)

Here is one website that you can look at http://www.starchtech.com/

One alternative that I have seen is Plain old Pop Corn. Popcorn is all natural, it is very inexpensive, enviro friendly. And tasty. I dont recommend eating any popcorn that things are shipped in as it would be very stale, but you could.

I used to keep a single place setting of Corelle (light weight and extremely impact-resistant), dishes, as well as a place setting of inexpensive cutlery in my desk when I worked. The same could be kept in a locker. Combine that with a plastic glass or ceramic mug, and your problems are solves.

I would say Biodegradable Paperboard...Try searching for Huhtamaki Americas. They manufacture "Chinet" and well as all sorts of other paper and plastic products.
