A soldier will die and it's played up that it's such a bad thing that they died. They are sent to war to a place that people die all the time, of course there is going to be casualties. Its war.... people are going to die....

It is really sad when one of your own dies, and i've had friends over there and its scary thinking about where they are.... But why is everyone so surprised when there are casualties?

People are not realistic, they don't seem to give a "beep" about this war and when it hits home then they cry about it. because it effects them. Otherwise they remain in their comfy home and have a "false" since of security.

I doubt that it's surprise that people are feeling. It's more like denial or resentment. We know that there is a posibility that a soldier can die. But it's always so hard when one does because the family and friends of the soldier begin to wonder if it's all really worth it.

The more soldiers that die in the war and their deaths are mentioned in the news, the more people are going to wonder if this is even worth it? Is the price of death worth whatever it is we're trying to prove with this war? Is it worth one more soldier dying and one more family forever changed? Is the mother of the soldier to going to have a hardened heart towards war?

i agree with eveyone else. we are not surprised, just angry. i think the media itself is the reason that Bush's ratings are so low. with all of the coverage of soldiers dying, who else are we going to blame it on?
