I am not trying to stereotype but most of the encounters that I have had with Africans have been negative. I am a friendly person and in most situations I've been in, African people, especially the women, were not very friendly. I love everybody. I am just wondering if Africans really dislike African Americans (Blacks)? I am not saying this based solely off my own experiences either, I've spoken with others and they wonder the same thing. Once again, I am not trying to stereotype, I just want to know what Africans think of African-Americans. Please, serious responses only. No racist or childish comments or you will be reported.

Africans actually have a better sense of Pan Africanism than
our Fellow African Americans. I have had several African
friends in the past years and I really don't see any difference
from a Native African and a highly motivated African Amercian
when it come to educational values and work ethics.

africans donnot hate african-americans, i think if africans and africamn-americans don't get along its because they think since they originated from the same background they ought to be alike, but on the other hand are very different, culturally. the problem is africans and african americans expect to get along with each other, but most of the time its very difficult because of language barriers and differences. also i had a friend from nigeria who just moved to the U.S and when she was in high school then. she faced so much trouble with teasing and being laughed at by blacks and it devastated her to see the people she expected to be friends with instead lauged at her. consequently, she had mostly white friends. i think generally there is no hatred between the two races. it is only thier differences that cause confusion.

I've gone to england and spoken to some black people over there. They were not fond of the way the african american "Rap" scene is going. They never said anything about hating though...

african look at the african americans as a mother looking for the lost baby
sure in many places in africa they try to put some blood to be traced and dna tests to americans if they wanted to know who are the big family
so all will be filed if african americans want to follow up

My only comment on this comes from a programme I once watched. The Africans actually thought the African Americans were somewhat patronising, and also incredibly uninformed. They assumed that all Africans had a concept of "African brotherhood", and would welcome them with open arms simply because they shared a skin tone.

It's simply a completely different culture and people expect because we are both quite tanned to get along.

We both share stereotypes about the other and find it hard to relate when we tend to prioritize differently.

I'm not African, so I will not presume to speak for anyone from that continent. But in their shoes, it would really tick me off if a race of people claimed their heritage as 'African American', simply because they are black, and their ancestors were originally from Africa.
