What are the requirements for becoming a college teacher in Canada?

I was wondering if there are any professors who can shed some light on this for me? Do you have to have a Phd in the subject that you are teaching or is only a masters okay? Im currently studying communications in university but am looking to teach in a college setting. Any help would be great. Thanks

If you do mean college and not university then typically job ads say MA required, Ph.D. preferred.
