I'am 17 years old,135lbs and 5"4 in height. Am I done growing? I feel like I haven't gone through a growth spurt yet and I'am 17!!.My parents are 5"11 (father) and 5"6(mother) both average height for their genders. Is there an explanation to this?It feels like Something is not adding up, I could understand if I had relatively short parents then I could understand that those were genetics given to me but I don't have short parents. At this age do I need to see a doctor that specializes in this type of thing? Pleaz! I 'am in desperate help! it is affecting my life physically/mentally and to an extent socially!

I was 6'2" as a sophomore, and didn't reach full height (6'6") until mid 20s. My brother finally caught up to me when he was 30-something. So growth CAN happen up ot the late 20s and beyond.

This answer is to give you hope, only. I can't answer if you have any medical condition, or not.

Well.... My stepson is undergoing human growth hormone (HGH) treatments, and has for the past (almost) 5 years. He'll be 17 in May, is 5'5, and about 112#. In the time he's been on daily HGH shots, he's grown over 17 inches, which is very unusual. He goes to see an endocrinologist at the local childrens' hospital every 3-4 mos., and 1x per year he has an x-ray (Bone Age) of his left hand, which tells the dr. where his bone maturation is in comparison to his chronological age. For the past several years, he's been about 3 years behind in his bone age, which is good for him because it means he has more time to grow and for the HGH shots to help him. His mom is 5'4, dad's 6'0, and the dr's have told him he could be--based on their height and other factors--5'8-6'2, with the actual likely being closer to 5'8 based on HIM. Now, his dad was aware since my stepson was born, that there is a familial growth issue in the boys on my stepson's mom's side of the family, so when we was 12, we pushed the dr's to do some tests because he was 4'0 for 3 years, and was in 6th grade.
With all of that being said, if you've not really gone through a tremendous growth spurt, I'd say you're not done growing. Typically, boys can continue to grow until they're in their early 20's - my cousins did...went from about 5'10-6'0 as high school seniors, graduated from college each at 6'4...we just roll like that--tall--though! :) If you're really concerned about it, see about getting an appt at your family dr and ask if they see a need to refer you to an endocrinologist. Never know, your family doctor may be able to order a bone age x-ray himself and go from there. Hopefully your growth plates haven't reached maturation and you're going to hit a growth spurt soon, though! Good luck!
