Think about the consequences before you act...if this guy is selling then he must have connections. You could put your family in danger. Make it anonymously! Good luck in cleaning up your neighborhood!

Known drug dealers are arrested quite often. The problem is that police do need probable cause to even detain someone or to search them. Thgis generally requires that the police actually see a drug transaction or participate in one undercover. Even after arrest, most drug offenders are back on the streets within a matter of hours, on bail or even their own recognance until a trial date is set. In large urban areas, even the preliminary hearing can take months to schedule. It also is the burden of the prosecution to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that a crime was actually commited and a decent defense attorney can ofetn get a goodly portion of the evidence thrown out as illegally obtained. In many cases drug dealers and users are given deals by the DA to plead guilty to lesser offences and avoid a trial. Others are given immunity for information on higher ups in the chain of command. Unfortuantely, for every drug dealer on the street that is making any kind of income from his or her trade there are several waiting in line for them to mess up.

Firstly how do you know he is a drug dealer? Secondly - it's unlikely the police will do much initially as they tend to prefer to keep an eye on smaller dealers in the hope they'll lead them to guys further up the chain.

As someone else said -there's drug dealing and drug dealing. If he's knocking out a bit of puff i'm afraid not much will be done. If he's dealing heroin then yes, something should be done.

Depending on the state that you live in there are normally drug task forces that will take care of these problems...but you can go to the police and give them the information you know and tell them that you do not want to give your name and that you will not testify in court against this person. Hope this helps.

Before we moved into our house one of our neighbors was dealing drugs from his home that his family(wife and kids) lived. The problem can in that he had a scanner and would clean everything up before the cops got there. The cops ended up busting him and sending him jail but that took over 6 months. All I can say is be careful and remember that we all are innocent until proved other wise in a court of law.

Report him. It's your duty. Even if you do it anonymously.

If everyone turns a blind eye, these things continue to go on.

And what about his kids? What kind of atmosphere is that for them?

Me, I'd find a way to report him anonymously. Maybe you should also advise the council. It's not fair, him living there when he's breaking the law.

It is a tough choice. If you inform the police you run the risk of retribution, especially if you are asked to give evidence in court.
Ifyou keep quiet you are risking the deterioration of your neighbourhood, antisocial behaviour etc.

Another alternative is to report it to Crimestoppers

I really sympathise. It makes you feel unsafe in your own home and it is very difficult. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

It depends if you know for sure that this party is dealing drugs. But still I wouldn't take matters into my own. If you know this party is selling drugs what make you think the law doesn't know. It's all just a matter of time.

He's certainly not helping people. But he's not entirely responsible for the harm coming to them either.

Regardless, he's breaking the law. It's a shame he isn't acting more responsibly for his children, but the law must be upheld. I would give the police an anonymous tip.
