You should make sure you charge and discharge the battery completely for a few times. In other words, charge the battery to full, run it down without plugging in the AC Adapter, and then recharge back to full. Do this for the first few times of use, then make sure you do this usually once or twice a month. Apple has a good page about laptop batteries. Although they refer to Apple laptops, the info really applies to all recently made laptops.
