I'd first ask someone you know who can do it for you free if it's simple. Otherwise, I use Taxact. It's free online but I've used the deluxe version (pay to download) since 2002. I'm no accountant so it's got to be very easy to use and simple and Taxcut surely has been a money saver for my income tax filing.

Go straight through www.irs.gov. They have lots of free-file programs, the best are taxact and taxcut, some of the others are a bit fishy. But they are free to file federal and charge to do state. You can do your state free by going straight to your states department of taxation website.

if a free tax sevice existed do you think you could trust them? not everything on here is or should be free. somethings are definitely worth paying for.
