I, like most women, am concerned about gaining weight. I'm 22 weeks and have already gained 19 pounds. I'm hungry all the time, and I try to cut down on my carbs, but those are all I crave! Anyone else have this problem?

I would love to exercise but it's SO cold here. I was a big outdoor walker until the winter started. I'm kind of embarassed to be walking on the track because all the others are running, but the doctor said no way! *SIGH*

The doctor told me to cut down on my carb intake. Not dramatically, but incorporate more veggies.

Well I discovered with my 3rd that a lot of my hunger was caused by fatigue. Since I wasn't getting the rest I needed my body compensated by having me eat extra--of course I ate too much. So with #3 I also had an 18 month old running around so I just started to follow his sleep schedule. Wow what a difference it made! The hunger really went away and I was able to eat normal healthy meals. I kept this up after the baby was born and lost a ton of weight that I had gained from #1 and #2. So see if extra rest will help you.

I also found that I became lactose intolerant during pregnancy and dropping the dairy made my cravings normalize some. By regulating my blood sugar better--small meals more often I also cut down on cravings and over eating.

*LOL* Absolutely, it's why I do not have a junk food place and have fruits and veggies stocked up. That way I can eat when I'm hungry. I also eat fish and other things.....although I hate steak and pork, I like chicken if it is baked. Fried chicken makes me sick and I don't like it anyway. You should be okay though. The average pregnancy is 20-35 pounds, but women vary with how much weight they have gained. I am 14 weeks and 3 days and haven't gained any weight yet. Of course that will change very soon I'm sure. I'm sporting a nice pregnancy pouch though. I tend to crave fruits and veggies and try not to give in if I have pickles and ice cream cravings. You might look to see what are in those carbs. I craved bread alot. I take my prenatals every day but my body was craving those extra serving of folic acid I guess. I know it sounds funny but look at the label of those carbs you do eat. You may be surprised to find what was in there. I didn't know folic acid and calcium was in bread :). Shows what I know. Also, it is good to have some carbs. Make sure you are getting at least 300-500 more calories than your usual normal daily intake. Try not to get more than that, but do not worry if you do. It will be okay. I think 19 pounds is pretty close to where you need to be at 22 weeks. Some women vary and can gain more or less than that amount. It's a common problem. There are also stark diffences for dieting to lose weight and dieting to be healthy. Eat when you are hungry but remember the term eating for two does not mean go all out and it may help those hunger cravings if you eat more constantly throghout the day small portions of healthier food.

i have a 5 month old. I was so morning sick the first trimester that when it finally stoped i was hungry! I gained a total of 35 lbs. The rule i lived by was for every bad thing i ate i age a good thing like a piece of fruit.

I have lost 25 of the 35 i put on without trying. The last 10 are taking their time. Don't worry and enjoy being pregnant as much as you can.

I am 26 weeks pregnant and I haven't really gotten unusually hungry until about a week ago. Just make sure that you try to walk everyday or do whatever exercise you can do. You don't want to gain too much weight because trust me, you will regret it later. Pregnancy weight is the hardest to get rid of.

I'm 24 weeks w/ #2 and have gained 25 pounds. Just make sure and exercise. I crave carbs all the time, but you need protein as well. Make sure you aren't eating too many simple carbs like white flour and white sugar as this can increase your chances of getting Gestational Diabetes.

i have a question....why are you trying to cut carbs while you are pregnate? you are just craving what your body and baby need. as long as you dont eat nothing but junk food and sugar stuff you will be fine.

i was hungry all the time too. worry about loosing the weight AFTER the baby is born. NOT now. eat heathly meals. take in the amount your DR tells you. it is what is best for your baby.
