A quote from the UK show "The Office":

Life is just a series of peaks and troughs. And you don't know whether you're in a trough until you're climbing out, or on a peak until you're coming down. And that's it you know, you never know what's round the corner. Er, but it's all good, you know. "If you want the rainbow, you've gotta put up with the rain." Do you know which 'philosopher' said that? Dolly Parton! And people say she's just a big pair of titts.

Compared to what?

Just kidding. I like her stuff, and I think her version of I Will Always Love You is by far the best. Whitney Houston has a great voice but she murdered that song, whereas Dolly sang it properly!!

She writes good songs, such as I Will Always Love You (and when she sang it her version was 'straight' rather than Whitney's painful, over the top effort, and so much more meaningful), Jolene, 9 to 5, she quietly helps less-well-off people, she gets up early every day to be alone to study her Bible, and she's true to herself. She doesn't pretend to be something she's not, and she's able to not take herself too seriously, unlike so many 'stars', especially American ones. She's clever, and has a good head for business. I don't like her false nails, but yes, she's brilliant.

Dolly is genuinely a very nice person and I would know, I met her when I was a kid and she was nice to everyone and signed autographs and chatted. This was when she was prob 24 yrs and my gosh, she was more beautiful in person. She has really stood the test of time and lasted through it. Go to her theme park sometime, it's a blast! http://www.dollywood.com/

She is a very smart and talented woman. To come from where she did, the background of the poorest of families to build the empire she has now is a testament to her strengths and faith. She once said that there is a reason she dresses the way she does. She dresses like the town tramp where she lived once used to dress just to shock people. That she does well. She is a great lady!!!!!!

She's an awesome singer, musician and song writer. She was smart enough to invest her money while she was still young in the business. She has done well for herself. So yes, she is one smart cookie. I admire her, and her talent too.
