First of all....Congratulations. What an exciting time this must be for you!!

As far as your baby shower....the 7th month is always an excellent month to have your baby shower!! Also...rally your close friends and family to throw it for you. It's always better for the shower to be a party thrown FOR you instead of a party thrown BY you!! It's your day....everyone should be spoiling you!!

So...get one to three people to host it. About a month to six weeks out send those invitations!! Make sure the invitations match the theme of the shower or the baby's layette! The reason why those invitation designs are important is because people will look to those invitations as a guide to prints and animals that you like. (IE: if they are choosing between a dragonfly nightlight and a lady bug nightlight.....they will go with the ladybug if there is a ladybug on the invitation!!).

Also...you need to register. But registering is SO MUCH FUN!! Pick an easy place that has online ordering options as well as stores people can easily access. (Babies R US and Target are always good choices). It is best to wait until you know the sex of the child before registering (if you want to find out....) so you don't have only yellow and green clothing for the little girl/guy!!

So....six weeks to two months out you send out invitations. Include everyone from in town to out of town!!! You never know who might decide to come in for this celebration!!! If they can't make it....they'll be touched that you invited them! Stress the RSVP. Give the guests two to three weeks to respond....but then call those guests who haven't responded two weeks prior so that you have an accurate headcount for the shower. This way the hostess has enough food (not too much food or too little) and you have an idea of how many there are for the games/activities.

Decorations can be simple....food can act as decor if it is laid out nicely!! Balloons are always nice. A stork on the front lawn exclaiming "It's a Boy!" or "It's a Girl" is a nice touch!!! A Diaper wreath for the front door (I make those, by the way). A Diaper Cake as a centerpiece (guess what? I make those TOO!!!). Favors for your guests (buy bath salts in bulk and make up nice little packets for your guests with tags relating to your shower attached). Prizes for any games/activities (gift baskets for a "Home Movie Night" or "Home Spa Kit" or "Scrapbooking Starter Kit'/ Be Creative....give gifts people people will use that are a little indulgent but not overly pricey!!!

Games....check out my website (i put the link below). I have some really sweet, sentimental activities on this site. It's nice to have some sentiment in the midst of all the silly baby shower games!!

Most of all...sit back and let these people celebrate you and your new family!!! The guests are there to honor you and your little one. That is why we go to the showers.....well that and because we just love those little pajamas!!

Good luck and have fun!!

The ones i've been to are usually two months before the women gives birth. Nowadays you never know when your going to give birth, so its safe to say two months before the due date. And usually your mom or mom in-law will want to throw the baby shower for you. Usually only women attend this showers just like a bridal shower is nothing but women, the same goes for Baby showers. You will play several games, have fun and laugh. Its suppose to be a great day. But its becoming more common to see the Dad of the baby attend these shower. My family is so huge, my family is throwing 3 different showers for me when i get close to my due date. Also, you have to register at a baby store like Babies R us if there is one close to you, if not maybe something like Wal-mart or Target. Hope this helps....congrats and good luck.

I just had mine yesterday and I am 33 wks pregnant. You normally have it within 2 months of your due date. Lots of little snacks, and baby shower games. Anyone can throw it for you. You may have 2 or 3 before your done, like family, your church, and your jod could even do one, but those are usually a surprise. If its your family then your mom and sis or mother in law would host it.

It's proper etiquette for the shower to be thrown by a close friend, whether it's a surprise shower or not. Usually they're scheduled for late in the pregnancy so all your loved ones can enjoy seeing you waddle around and they can scare you with labor stories. Another optioon is to have the shower shortly after the baby is born.

Good luck.

I am currently 21 weeks pregnant due in june with my 4th baby. my coworkers are throwing me my first shower sometime in april or may. some people wait til they have the baby even so it all varies when to have a shower. I am the one who chose the april and may dates because then the chances of something going wrong with the pregnancy at slim (as far as miscarriage and surival rates). hope this helped you. As far as how to host one i am working with my coworkers who are doing all the work for it.
