Well you know I figured there is a better reason than "it's easier to carve out" but, they can make a perfectly curved letter "b" I mean are they just trying to confuse me?

In ancient Roman and Greek times, they hadn't figured out how to carve curves. So they made a U look like a V.

In moderns buildings, it's an attempt to give the building some history and grandeur.

The Roman alphabet didn't have a u. Those buildings are trying to look "classical" by imitating the Roman use of v for the u sound.

It's meant to be a "u" but the engraving makes it look like a "v".
