Usually faster than intelligence. The uninformed tend to be quick to "jump on the bandwagon". Informing yourself takes time and energy that some people are unwilling to expend.

Good answer live75. In this day in age ignorance can be downright "viral". Look at all the hoaxes and misinformation that spread after 9/11.

I'm not sure ignorance spreads, since it is simply the absense of knowledge. Therefore, I guess you could say it spreads as fast as knowledge is slow.
