1- Get a spray lube and do each one of those rollers and the shafts that go into the door.
2- Pull the release rope and roll the door up and down several times manually.
3-Make sure the batteries in the remote unit are fresh.
4- There are two adjustment knobs on or under the opener motor housing, (one for the up limit switch and one for the down limit.
5- Try these (the up one, they are labeled).
After all of these don't improve the operation, ask one of the home center specialists in the department that sells door openers.
Good Luck ! ! !

To see if it's binding, disconnect the opener and raise the door manually. If it goes up OK, then you'll want to adjust the open force a little bit. This is quite common this time of year. Don't just crank it up all the way-it's for safety. Gradually increase the settings while testing the door until it opens and closes properly several times. Of course, this would be a good time to oil it (see Norman801's reply). If the door is binding, there can be many not-so-obvious reasons for this. Call a service technician, and forget the helpful "pro's" at the home centers. Go with a reputable local company. Do not wait for warmer weather, get it fixed as soon as possible.

I have an Allister Type II A Garage Door Opener and tried opening it while the door was latched shut. Knocked the door latch open while under tension now the door only opens half way. What do I need to do to get to open fully? Garage Door Closes ok Would also like to update the Remote Door Opener so it will work with my 2013 Chevy Malibu Garage Door Opener.

The cold weather certainly has a lot to do with it. It will turn any minor problem into a major one. Raise the door up until it stops at the place of misalignment, thenfirmly grab the bottom edge of the door and give a good yank upwards. Or better yet, get your spouse to do it! You may have to do this only as long as the cold weather lasts. The roller is probably just worn. Wait for warmer weather to do any fixes.

Check the springs up on top (on both sides of the pulley.) It sounds like one of those springs broke. If so, call a repairman out if you can't replace it yourself. Also, if the spring is broken, the best thing to do is have the BOTH replaced at the same time. Hope that helps.

There is a rope hanging from your garage door (well, there should be). pull it down , it releases the door from opener. You should be able to open and close the door then.

Get someone from the place you got it installed from to come over and check it out. If you don't remember where you got it from, have someone from Home Depot or Lowe's.
