Hi hun,

I got married at 19 and went through the same thing. I'm now 24 and hubby is 42 and things couldn't be better. The reason why: Because I put my foot down. Things can work out if he tries to see things from your point of view. Tell him he is driving you away. He worries about you cheating, tell him if he doesn't sort himself out, you'll be single and able to do what you want, which would be worse!!!!!

Good luck in whatever you decide!

Generally, people are going to assume you're immature. The only thing I would worry about is if an 18-year-old male is really going to be committed to staying married. Generally 18-year-olds are more interested in partying and having a good time, not being in a committed relationship.

If you don't do something NOW about this "mistake" you made, his controlling behaviour will only get worse--maybe towards physical abuse in the future. You are both too young to have gotten married in the first place, secondly, it has to be said that you are both immature--you are both still teens for gawds sake--i don't mean to be rude, offensive, or insulting, but there you go...truth hurts sometimes! There should be a law passed that forbids anyone under the age of twenty from marrying-(even THEN at that age, some people are STILL immature!) My advice--along with other people who answered--is to get out anyway you can...FAST!

You're not allowed to listen to music? Ever? Or just certain times? Like when he's sleeping? Not even if you use headphones?

I don't think you're telling us the whole story and, frankly, you sound REALLY IMMATURE. See a counselor to help you figure out if there's a problem with the marriage or a problem with YOU (like you need to grow up).

If the marriage can't be saved, consult a lawyer about a possible annulment.

you sound like you did make a mistake, and at 18 you'll change so much in the next 5 yrs. An divorce or annulment would be a good idea, learning to spell a second great idea.

Live on your own alone for a while & get to know yourself, be your own best friend, don't look to someone else for happiness, that comes from within.

I was going to say only time will tell but as others have said marry in hast and repent at leisure you must do what ever you think best to sort out your problem and I trust you will find a way to do this be for aney thing gos badly wrong such as has been suggested by an other. In the mean time I ask our father God to bless you and yours and give you wisdom and strength to cope with your present problem in Jesus Christ's name I ask this Amen. IT IS SO. peter william lack.

Honey, 18 is waaay too young to get married in this day and age. You still have alot to learn and experience. If he is controlling you as a "father" would then you absolutely have married the wrong man. You need to be with someone who will help you grow and develop as a person and as you desire.

You let him know right off the bat that he's not going to CONTROL you, or you'll be doing it the next 10 years...until you can't take it anymore, and by then you'll prolly have a kid or two, and maybe feel stuck with him wishing you'd dumped him 10 years earlier.

If you don't let him know now that you're not going to put up with it, then get ready to suffer.

By the way, the not letting you listen to music thing is just stupid...in case you wondered.

Married a control freak before you realized what type of man he really was and what type of person you would like to become?

Yes, you married too young. You made a mistake. Now what are you going to do about it?

Sorry to say this but looks like you've married a controlling man. He should love you for you and if you can't be yourself then you are going to end up very unhappy. Talk to him and if he doesn't change get out before you end up having children with him!
