Can anybody tell me if its legal to send somebody home from work if they are not wearing lip gloss? Thats what happened to me, and I think this is a very stupid reason, I am a good employee, never late or missing any work days. I do not understand why they didn't gave me a warning instead. I am so angry, because I was wearing lip gloss, it just wears off on me. What they did to me is not fair. Who is right on this?

Are they being abusive? Can I fight this back legally?

Another lady at work was also not wearing any make up, but since shes been there longer than I have, they don't tell her anything.

No, it is not abusive. You may not like it, but it is not abusive.

Whether or not it is a stupid reason is not an issue. If it is the rule stated either in dress code, employee handbook/contract or memo, then it is the rule that you agreed to follow when you took the job. So yes, it may well be fair even if you do not like it.

Frankly, having been the manager of staff; when I see a question like this I wonder what you are not telling us. No manager worth anything is going to send a good employee home for a minor issue like this. Obviously, there are other issues that have surfaced over your time there. There is more to being a good employee than just showing up, most of all there is a positive atitiude which is usually what is missing.

Lastly, it is Injustice, not unjustice.

Depends on what it states in your employee manual. Check that first to make sure they can do that. Sounds like a pretty stupid reason to send someone home.

What kind of job do you have that requires lip gloss? I wouldn't think that it would be okay for them to do that.

I take it you are 'on stage' in some fashion?

Seems to me they might have just sent you to the ladies' room to refresh it.
