read Dale Carnegie classic, "How to win friends and influence people".

Here are some quick things to do:
The only way to get the best of an argument is to avoid it.
Show respect for the other persons opinions
If you are wrong, admit it
Begin in a friendly way
Get the other person saying "Yes"
Let the other person do the talking
Try honestly to see from thier point of view.
Read the book to really get the theory.
take responsibility

That would depend on what you were trying to influence them on. There was a book written some years ago called 'How to Win Friends and Influence People' by Dale Carnegie. The best way that I know to influence people is to be a role model. You might want to clarify your question. A little fine tuning would help those of us who want to give you an answer.

the best way that I have found to influence someone is to mirror their personality. really study what makes this person tick and just kinda act a little like them, but not in a mocking way. you also want to add a little of your own personality into it, so that it doesn't seem like your brown-nosing. People very often, respond well to those that they see themselves in.

by having something that someone wants!
and by having friends or people around you that can be influences but over all your actions...

ALWAYS just be yourself. Don't try to be or act like anyone else. Honesty and integrity are the best attributes a person can have. But above all just BE YOURSELF!!!

Confidence, strong speech, good posture. Influencing others is a lot of how you carry yourself. :)
