it's just part of his un-ending experiment to see how much we'll actually put up with.

I am not sure I understand the question: what does the existence of God have to do with whether or not we need certain body parts. this does not make sense to me but here goes:
God gave us our eyes to see...what else would he give us? you got a better idea?
God gave us our nerves to feel...that's what they are for. All of our attributes were given us by God, that is the way we are built because that is how he decided to do it. not because there isn't a more efficient way, but because that's just the way he chose.
The short and simple: because God wanted to. We were created in his image...the common misconception is that this means we physically look like him...in fact I think that this means we were created as he saw fit and necessary (in His image, or according to his own idea or design)

In Genesis 1:26 it tells why we are made like we are.

26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man ain His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them
The New King James Version. 1996, c1982 . Thomas Nelson: Nashville

In order to have dominion over all animals, we had to have more senses than some of the animals.

God wanted us to "enjoy" our stay on earth. He said there would be some sorrows and pain, but we put up with that all the time.

God bless you :)

Have you thought about how it would be without such things. Imagine life without an anus. Or worse, imagine how life would be if you had no personality. Or how about a life without the curiosity about where you came from.

How would you find your way around without those? How would you know if you got hurt and were bleeding to death?
