Nah, it could be worse. If they come around and ask if you'd like to fill in for the co-pilot then you might be in trouble.
Did you ever see that Dilbert comic? He's boarding a plane and they tell him no seats are available, but if he can sit in for the co-pilot they'll let him on. He agrees and it shows him in the cockpit asking the guy in the pilot's seat what he's supposed to do.

He was probably just referring to the car which they both own, which sadly has a meter that is pointing very close to empty. Your flight however will be fine. Enjoy wherever it is you are traveling to!
