So i was driving home from school, and when i got home, i realized that my handbrake had been on the whole drive back!! I had forgot to turn off the handbrake.....first of all, can a car even go 60 mph with the handbrake on, cuz i did, and second, what damage may have been done?

Driving with the e-brake on can and usually does damage the brakes(worn pads or shoes and warped discs or drums). It can also damage the wheel bearings by cooking the grease through extreme temperatures caused by the brake being on.If you can not check it out yourself you should have a tech take a look at the brakes just to be safe. You did not mention how far you drove with the brake applied the longer you drove the more likely you did some damage.

ive done that. actually, ive done that like twice, and my handbrake still works, but i only left it on a short time on the second so not alot was done... theres two possibilities :
1) you set the brake and drive off - getting the car moving is the hard part. mines a clutch, and its not going ANYWHERE with the brake on, and youll stall every time untill you smack yourself and release it. once the car is moving, the friction of the drum against the pads has probably already worn away enough for the drum (and car) to move freely and not erode any more. if its a mechanical grip brake instead of shoes, then it probably broke.
2) if your brake has a self-adjusting mechanism then it simply wore away the whole pad. this is probably the case if you pull up, stop, get out, and your tyre(s) are smoking, and you smell burnt rubber (also the case if youve been doing drifts and donuts and s***). i drove like 4 miles @ approx. 40 mph with the e-brake of my dad's van on, and this happened, but it still works.
you can test it and see, or take it apart and check it, but i would suggest getting the pads replaced if you want to be sure about it. it really depends on how long it was on. if you park on a hill and leave it in neutral or something, youll find out pretty quick if your emergency brake works or not.

Yes it can and the damage is losing the pads in the back brakes.

Yes, it can and you probably did not do much damage but you may want to have it checked out just in case.
