Log on as the "Administrator" user. Once you're logged in as the admin, you can reset your old user password. If you don't know what your Administrator password is, you can reset that by rebooting into Safe Mode

1. Reboot Windows in Safe Mode.

2. Click Start, and then click Run.

3. In the Open box, type the following command, and then click OK: control userpasswords2

4. Click the user account that you forgot the password for, and then click Reset Password.

5. Type a new password in both the New password and the Confirm new password boxes, and then click OK.

To access Safe Mode, Click Start -> Shutdown (or Turn Off), and choose 'Restart'. Once the computer restarts, press F8 repeatedly on the keyboard until a Boot Menu appear (this *must* be done before the Windows boot screen appears). Finally, choose to boot Windows in Safe Mode and press Enter on the keyboard.

There could also be an account to your pc that doesn't require a password referred to as Administrator. It's really typical whilst a few one units up a pc, that they don't placed one in. You don't in most cases see this account whilst you begin up, however when you boot into risk-free mode you're going to see it. To boot into risk-free mode, mostly, you vigour up the pc and whilst you see the black BIOS monitor (the only earlier than the XP monitor looks which as a rule has the title of the pc company), faucet the F8 key till a monitor comes up which has boot offerings, one in all that's risk-free mode. A bunch of procedure documents will load and be numerated at the monitor, after which the login monitor will arise. Choose Administrator and if a it asks for password, take a look at simply hitting go back and if no administrator password was once set, it's going to assist you to in. Once in, you'll be able to pass into User Accounts from manipulate panel and reset any passwords that you just ought to, then close down and begin up in most cases along with your new password. If you get "keyboard mistakes" whilst you faucet that F8 key, it as a rule way you began tapping too quickly, so close down and take a look at once more. Good good fortune.

What flavor are you running?

Win95, 98 & ME you can just hit CANCEL, and you are in.

WinXP and Win2K can be a bit more trouble. For that you need Safe Mode. If that doesn't work, you can re-install windows overtop of what you already have. You won't lose your programs, but it is a little drastic, but it is free if you don't want to pay a pro.

you can click on that little question mark on the first screen next to your name, which is a reminder to remind your password when you need it. if you didn;t make one then you need another person who has administrator's account inroder to re-set your account password.

Did you try kicking your computer? While it may sound silly, it'll work better than most of the other submissions.
