Ah, what the heck. School sucks. I live in Michigan. How much snow do we need to get the day off?

it depends, if the road conditions get nasty they may cancle school or if the snow is blowing everywhere really bad. or if its really deep. I love snow days and i hate school Colorado has been hit bad with snow so we've had a lot of snow days, they called off school for us because the roads were bad, and we had blizzard conditions also, that might have been why lol

How much snow? There isn't a single answer.

It all depends. I live in Minnesota. We, like most all northern states, have a public and private infrastructure set up to handle lots of snow. Thus, we can have a night snowfall of many inches and 'still have school.' Whereas, in California and other southern states, only an inch or two of snow may cause cancellations.

Judging by your location, Michigan, I am going to assume that you'll need to get quite a bit of snow (maybe 8 to 12 inches) for a snow day. Good luck on your snow day!

I live in Eastern/southern MI., and I had a snow day TODAY!!!!!!! most the time we don't even have real snow days though....they are usually ICE days (like the huge ice storm we had a few years back and got a week off...the roads are so bad becuase of freezing rain during the night there is no time to melt the ice before morning), or today was a COLD day (it was -22 degrees outside including windshield and i guess the people figured it would be unsafe for people to wait for the bus)

For school to be canceled in Michigan there needs to be at least 7-10 inches on the ground according to my cousin that lives there.Where I live the school board says we need around 9-11 but if the weather conditions are bad in the morning and the roads are extremely slippery, school usually gets canceled even if there's only 8 inches on the ground.

Typically, seeing as it's Michigan, genreally 4 inches or more is the rule when it comes to having a snow day.

Here in South Texas, it's about 60 degrees and that's cold enough for us to consider it freezing. No snow, just a bunch of bird crap that looks like snow.

depends on where you live, here in missouri, we had about half an inch and they cancelled because the busses couldn't run snow routes. it basically boils down to whether the school thinks it can get 80% of the students to attend, if they can't they lose money for the day.
