It depends on your browser.

Internet Explorer uses ActiveX or active exchange between computers, A virus can be planted in your computer and using IE browser, it can be functional with another computer a thousand miles away.

FirefoxMozilla, that browser does NOT use ActiveX , thus viruses even trogans in your computer lay dormant and cannot function. using that browser. It is safer than IE browser for that reason.

View your own ActiveX, open Internet Explorer, on top see Tools, then InternetOptions, the Security, then Custom Level. Now see that ActiveX in there. That is what the BadGuys use to enter your computer, thru the very software Internet Explorer provides. Its amazing to me how few people know about ActiveX.

You need Active X to update Windows, Update your Spyware and use in many other ways. So using Antispyware puts a Policeman right in front of your ActiveX, watching it for you and keeping those bad guys OUT !!!!
