Are there any specially good places? Preferably on the Kent, Sussex, coast? I'm looking for some soft lumps I can bring home to carve after a nice day beachcombing etc. Or maybe some fresh rockfalls or roadside cuttings? Max about 12" cube-ish, soft and fresh.

Hey Pretty Woman,

There is a variety in the West of the USA:
Malachite (copper carbonate hydroxide) is a semi-precious banded green gemstone. Its name is derived from the Greek "mallow," a green herb. The unique variations caused by the light and dark green color bands make it a very popular material for jewelry makers.

A variety is commonly known as Soap-Stone, and can be swiftly purchased and wisked away to your home, or business.
