I am a part-time artist who likes to do lots of different kinds of artwork and crafty stuff. So I have tons of supplies that are stuck here and there throughout our house. I can help other people get organized, but I can't seem to do it for myself. I do not have a room/studio to keep my stuff and there is not a bedroom or garage that I can convert into a studio. I want to work on this stuff at home, so I can't rent a space. Has anyone else had this problem and found a workable solution? It is driving me crazy!

You have to find some space to keep it in- wether it's a corner of a bedroom or half a closet you can spare. get some shevling and shoe-sized boxes lable the boxes and keep them on the shelf.
If you really are space -defficiant then just boxes with some form of lableing system is a decent option. shelving is much more convenient and you can access what you want faster.
Dedicate a sunday afternoon (or whenever you have free time) and just sort the stuff.
I'm an art student and I live in a small appartment with 3 roomates so the only place I have is my bedroom. luckaly I don't have any furnature to clutter the place (go student life) Along one wall on the floor I keep all my art supplies for my various classes each in their own pile. I have a tool box for my oil pants and brushes and a smaller wood-box for my gouashe and watercolor brushes.

Hey Happy Face,

You need to follow your own advice and get organized. Easier said than done, yes.

Get some crates with lids, big ones, that are stackable. Collect all your 'tons' of supplies. Sort through the supplies by frequency of use, and types of supplies. Put the least used supplies in the bottom container. Label the containers. If there are supplies you never use, sell them.

Face it, you are stuck where you are, so you need to get the right organization tools for yourself. Perhaps you can put racks that hold containers. Label all of the carefully, so you can find what you need.

My Wife and I are into many crafts, and we have many holiday supplies too. The little storage space we have is used for containers that come out as holidays arrive, and get put back after the holiday. If we work on a craft, the stuff comes out, then goes back. You have to be vigilant about it.

Sort, Straighten, Sweep, Schedule and Sustain: the 5 S's of housekeeping.

Hey!

Just do what I did. I had a painting class last semester and I'm like what am I gonna do with all this paint?! So I got one of my bags that used as a bookbag and put all my paint, brushes, rags and palette in. And and I keep my cavases in the bag that I had purcheased them fromt he store and at first I had them in my closet and they were getting in the way of everything in the closet. Then I put them behind the other bed in my room (before I got a roommate), but it just keep tipping over and over so I put it behind my dresser, because there's a little gap there and I didn't have to worry about them about them. Another thing you can do is get those storage bins that are wide that fit under the bed and put all of your supplies in there and put them in a convient spot if you don't have room under the bed and whenever you need them there they are without looking for them.
