I started out as an CNA... worked there got accepted into med school and where i worked there it truly helped and it didn't cost me a thing. grades helped but work and experience is a A+.

From what I understand, becoming an EMT does not do all that much to get into med school. You could volunteer at a hospital or clinic and that would look just as good. Being a paramedic looks a bit better, but that's pretty involved and would distract you from getting into med school.

Good grades, lots of science, biology, and math classes. I've heard that it's better to get top scores in a lower level class, than to get middle ranging scores in a higher level class. Volunteering in a healthcare setting would look good, too.

Hope this helps...

This can gurantee you to get in:
1.You need at least a B.S. Or B.A. degree in any subject but
better choice would be science related but you can get
a degree in business, psychology, geology etc. as long
as you fulfill the pre-med requirements which you can get
from any medical school by writing.
2. You need to have good grades, the higher the better
A GPA greater than 3.6 would ensure a competitive edge
3. You need to work in a hospital or physician office, if you
are not able to do it full time, at least part time to expose
you to the medical environment, so that you have some
idea of what the medical world is really like, not like ER
or House. While you are there you need to meet some
doctors. If they know you are going to medical school
most likely they will take an interest in you and allow you
to observe some things. Surgeries xrays etc. If you can't
get a job. Do some volunteer work, that is good or better.
Looks good on your application to do volunteer health related
services.
4. You need to display a genuine interest not just the suck
up bullshit most pre med students do. You can do this
by reading upon the subject, surgeries that you are going
to watch etc.
5. You need to make good MCAT scores 9 or 10 is competitive
Higher better
6. You need to apply to more than one school, Apply to many
as possible. Make sure you have money for interviews and
travel time.
7. You need to have an open mind about people, you need
to work with all income levels, ethnic groups and age
groups and have a general compassion and consideration
for your fellow man. You can't bullshit this either
If you follow through with all the above I guarantee that you will
be sitting in someones medical school class in 4 yrs.
GOOD LUCK

A really good idea to increase your chances of getting into Med school would be to volunteer. You need good recommendations and a great MCAT score. For more ideas, you can go to your local library and look at a book about his topic. there are plenty of books about this, they are in the college section.

Med schools look for a balance of activities, good grades and work experience. Its good to collect as much work experience as possible as in the end everyone will prob hav the same grades! Volunteer in hospitals and charity things.
