While Cheney certainly didn't start the war, I have no doubt that he has made some money off of it through his stock portfolio. But I have to wonder, where do Ted Kennedy, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Al and Tipper Gore, John and Theresa Kerry-Heinz, etc, etc, etc invest their millions.

Think they might have some money in defense contractors? Does that make them war profiteers?

Cheney did not start a war. That was the terrorists that have been bombing Americans since 1983. We finally started fighting back after 9/11.

Haliburton is not Cheney's company anymore. He had to sell every share of it before he ran for office, it's the law. If Haliburton does well, Cheney doesn't see a dime.

Perhaps you should educate yourself and do research on the relevant history and laws before you go spouting off. Otherwise you just look like an ignorant fool.

Hey seadog23185,

The Iraq war was NOT started by Islamic Radicals. It was started by this Republican controlled government. The Iraq war is NOT the war on terrorism. The Afghanistan war is the war in terrorism. We did not go into Iraq because terrorists were there, but now after the handy work of Bush/Cheney it is now a hot bed for terrorists. I can't stand it when people confuse the war on terror for the Iraq war. It is simply not true.

I am confused how did Iraq fly those plans into the WTC ?

Congress voted 100% to go to war because this administration told a 100% lie about why we were going into war

I often wonder were some of this information is drummed up, We now went to Iraq because of Islamic Radicals? Where did this news come from FOX NEWS? Congress and the American people were told by This Republican administration that there were WMD's in Iraq. This was a total LIE and over brave soldiers are dying for an inexcusable LIE!!!

and to answer your question he is a war profiteer, no-bid contracts and the American tax payer dollars......WHATEVER

In one of the largest sums ever donated to charity by a U.S. public official, Vice President Dick Cheney and his wife Lynne gave away nearly $7 million last year to help the poor and to medical research.

According to income tax information released by the White House on Friday, the Cheneys' adjusted gross income in 2005 was $8,819,006.

The sum was largely the result of Mr. Cheney's stock options from Halliburton and royalties from three books written by Mrs. Cheney.

The Cheneys gave more than three-quarters of their income - $6,869,655 - to several charities, including George Washington University's Cardiothoracic Institute and a charity for low-income high school students in the Washington, D.C. area, Capital Partners for Education.

The Cheneys' charitable generosity stands in marked contrast to that of their predecessors, whose sometimes stingy donations became a national embarassment.

In 1997 for instance, Al and Tipper Gore contributed just $353 to charity, a sum that raised eyebrows even in friendly media circles.

The Los Angeles Times noted, for instance, that the Gores' slender donation "caused some bewilderment in philanthropic circles because of the vice president's 'good guy' image as an advocate for public service and social causes."

The same year the Gores gave $353 to charity, they reported $197,729 in adjusted gross income

No. My answer is NO because:
1. Cheney didn't "start" any war.
2. He is no longer involved with Halliburton, except for his stock options. And most of his profit goes to charity.

Yes.

That wasn't so hard, was it?

if you close your eyes and plug your ears, you might not notice

"started by islamic radicals": no. The war in Iraq was started by the U.S. Saddam Hussein is not an islamic radical, and we started the war supposedly so we could have a looksee to find out if he had WMDs. He was building a secular Iraq... not that I'm saying he was a good leader; he was a murderer too. But a war on radical islam it was not.

Congress voted 100% to go to war.

Cheney had a freeze put on his Halliburton shares so he wouldn't make or lose money, and he could be unbiased about his political decisions. So he isn't making any money off of this "money war" even though we liberated TWO countries from evil regimes.
