Thus to find the difference we are best to convert to a common denominator, so how about 12? 126 and 3/12 - 78 and 8/12 = 1515/12 - 944/12 = 571/12 = 47 and 7/12 Note that a calculator is best used if you want to use the multiplication method as I have. However, to avoid a calculator, do the difference in your head by parts: 126-78 = 48 Add the 3/12 and subtract the 8/12 - net difference is subtract 5/12 You are left with 47 and 7/12.

So the multiplication and division would go first:
(3 * 4) + (15 / 5) - 4 =
(12) + (3) - 4
This leaves just addition and subtraction, so the order doesn't matter. You get 12 + 3 - 4 = 15 - 4 = 11.
Note that a computer or calculator would typically not handle this correctly, as they can only read from left to right and do any operations along the way. This would give you a different (and again, algebraically WRONG) answer: (((3 * 4) + 15) / 5) - 4 = ((12+15)/5) - 4 = 27/5 - 4 = 27/5 - 20/5 = 7/5. But the correct answer is 11.

it all depends.. if you mean it step by step the it's 1.4, but if it's like a whole fraction then 3*4+15/5-4 = 12+15/5-4 = 27/1 = 27. You sort of have to explain it better
