1) Each employee = 94/15 hour per day. Multiply by 5 = 31 and 1/3 hours per day. 2) It's going to help to put things in fraction form if we want to do this without a calculator. 6 and 2/3 also expressed as 20/3. 15 can be expressed as 45/3. 45/3 div 20/3 = 45/3 * 3/20 = 45/20 = 9/4 or 2 and 1/4. Also you could go 45/3 div 20/3 = 45(3)/20(3), the threes will cancel. You need to go back to reciprocal rules if you can't understand this. If you use a calc you will get the same answer, however I prefer to emphasize methods which reduce reliance on a calculator. 3) Immediately one can tell that the answers are not the same, as one has a 1/3 decimal (0.333) and the other a 1/4 decimal (0.25). Thus to find the difference we are best to convert to a common denominator, so how about 12? 126 and 3/12 - 78 and 8/12 = 1515/12 - 944/12 = 571/12 = 47 and 7/12 Note that a calculator is best used if you want to use the multiplication method as I have. However, to avoid a calculator, do the difference in your head by parts: 126-78 = 48 Add the 3/12 and subtract the 8/12 - net difference is subtract 5/12 You are left with 47 and 7/12.

3 * 4 + 15 / 5 - 4

Since there's no indication of parentheses, and thus no immediate way of knowing which operation should be done first, then the proper way to do this is to remember "PEMDAS", or "Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally". This means you follow operations in the order of Parentheses, Exponents (and radicals), Multiplication and Division, then Addition and Subtraction.

So the multiplication and division would go first:
(3 * 4) + (15 / 5) - 4 =
(12) + (3) - 4

This leaves just addition and subtraction, so the order doesn't matter. You get 12 + 3 - 4 = 15 - 4 = 11.

Note that a computer or calculator would typically not handle this correctly, as they can only read from left to right and do any operations along the way. This would give you a different (and again, algebraically WRONG) answer: (((3 * 4) + 15) / 5) - 4 = ((12+15)/5) - 4 = 27/5 - 4 = 27/5 - 20/5 = 7/5. But the correct answer is 11.

it all depends.. if you mean it step by step the it's 1.4, but if it's like a whole fraction then 3*4+15/5-4 = 12+15/5-4 = 27/1 = 27. You sort of have to explain it better

you have to use the bodmas for this question: (3*4)+(15/5)-4 = 11

PEMDAS

3*4+15/5-4

12+15/5-4

12+3-4

15-4

The answer is 11

3*4+15/5-4
You want to use the order of operations (parentheses, exponents, multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction):
12+3-4
15-4
11

rewrite the problem: 3x4+15/5-4
follow the 'please excuse my dear aunt sally' method.
3x4 is 12 and 15/5 is 3 (yu do the mult. and div. first)
12+3-4 will be 11.
