You can trust them to be caught with their pants down, get in each other's way as they run around pointing fingers, piss away more money on P.R. speeches and photo op's than they spend on the crisis itself, and when it's done, appoint a commission staffed with unqualified political appointees to compile a ten thousand page document telling us what we already knew about the crisis.

Anyone who relies on a gigantic bureaucracy to help them in times of need is screwed.

Can you take care of your basic needs for a month, if necessary? Can you hunt, fish, trap? Do you know where to get drinkable water? Do you know what you can do to *make* water drinkable?

No, I'm not a survivalist - just a rural woman with enough sense to know you can't rely on anyone but yourself.

And I wonder how everyone would be reacting had they those things really been a threat? You should be grateful the police were doing their jobs.

Why? What exactly did they do wrong? They perceived a threat based on citizens' reports, and took appropriate action to dissolve the threat.

Sounds like you think the police bothced it. You could not be more wrong. It says to me that they are being vigilant and on watch.

No, you cant trust them in ANY situation. The shame of it is that people would think its broken policy as opposed to just being incompetent, truth is most of em are just dumb.
